Who's House?
Whether we rent or own, our dwelling place requires care, upkeep, and maintenance. It could be as simple as taking out the trash, to painting, unclogging a toilet, or decorating our front entrance, maintenance allows us to continue to make where we live not just a house or apartment—but a home.
Many Together in Mission schools and parishes have to forego maintenance. They operate from need-to-need, repair-to-repair until it's a must. Broken lights and run-down pews? That will have to wait until who knows when. No more funds for cleaning staff? Guess we will have to scrub the floors ourselves this week! We have all been there at some point—when it's challenging to make ends meet. Often, prayerful discernment helps decide the best course of action and maybe requires sacrifice on our part.
We are incredibly inspired and grateful that you have pledged $58,500 of our $316,789 goal over the past three weekends. Although we are usually closer to 35% of our goal after the first weeks of appeal, we realize many are still in discernment. Perhaps you can relate to the parishes and schools in our diocese that need our help and support to make their ends meet too. And yet, even parishes who receive funds from Together in Mission participate in the appeal, have an assigned goal, and give back to those in need.
Our schools are the primary ministry of our parishes. Let's help our brothers and sisters in Los Angeles make ends meet by renewing or starting your pledge. The total can be spread over ten months, and any amount is vital to maintaining who's house? Our house—the body of Christ—our Church.
