The Neverending Story
Remember that film from the 80s with Atreyu and Falkor the luck dragon—which really just looks like a white flying cocker spaniel? It was one of my favourites and for some reason, a particular line has forever been indelled in my mind. The elderly gnome caring for an injured Atreyu "It's got to hurt if it's to heal."
It reminds me of the concept of sacrificial giving. Sacrificial giving is a generous act of giving that goes beyond our comfort zone, our routine, and sometimes even our financial means. It's a selfless act that helps others without expecting anything in return. It's a beautiful expression of love, compassion, and empathy toward important things in our life.
Sacrificial giving means giving without hesitation—without expecting to be acknowledged or praised and without any strings attached. We let go of our selfish desires and put the needs of others first, making a tangible impact in our community.
While it may not always be easy, sacrificing and giving generously lifts our spirits, opens our hearts, and reminds us of the power of generosity. The reward of sacrificial giving is not in what we receive, but in what we can give and the positive change we can inspire.
