Movin' Out
As you're on campus over the next few months, you may see and hear construction vehicles, equipment, and personnel working on the rectory. Before the pandemic, the city required our priest's home to be retrofit for earthquakes. We were provided some extra time but decided to move forward this year. It's the second time our priest have had to move out in the last five years—so let's pray for their comfort and peace.
Although we would have liked to include this project in the 2017 renovation, it wasn't required at that time. However the timing aligned with the Called to Renew campaign and we have included in our parish case statement along with the Duval Center, Hospitality Suite and Cantwell Auditorium. It is going to be an exciting year ahead of renewal, improvements, and more ways make St. Monica feel like a real "third place"—not Starbucks. Thank you in advance for your patience, cooperation, and excitement for all of these developments and for the support that allows your parish community to continue to grow.
Thank you again to the dozens of liturgical ministers who made our holiest days of the Sacred Triduum and Easter powerful celebrations of the central mystery of our faith, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Weeks of preparation, rehearsals, scheduling, decorating, praying, composing, writing, and cooking brought the spirit-filled liturgies to a fruitful celebration. To all who have made the Easter celebrations full of life and Spirit, thank you!
Next weekend is Mother’s Day, a special day to honor and pray for the women who have special places in our lives. That day will begins a nine-day novena of prayer for mothers and mother-figures that have gone before us. We invite you to include the names of mothers, grandmothers, godmothers, friends, teachers, and other important women in your life, as well as any prayer intentions, so that we may honor them over the next nine days: stmonica.net/mothers
Enjoy a beautiful weekend!
