Heritage of Community
As an engaged parent, I am able to stay on the pulse of what is happening at Saint Monica Preparatory because of the nature of my job. It can be both a blessing and a curse in some ways—Leland knows his way around the Caruso Center as much as he does the play structure! However, that is the function of a parish. It is our spiritual home. It cares for us and we for it.
This weekend, our community is excited to continue the development of that spiritual home—like we've done for the past 27 years—with SMASH, which stands for Saint Monica Academic and Spiritual Heritage. In so many ways, our community of parish and schools supports each other, and that support fuels our fire and our passion for our faith. Our son will always have the support of that community. It is something to be cherished and looked after, as one should tend a fire. That's what this event provides: opportunities to improve our school as well as providing for the continuing education of our many teachers, catechists, and staff.
We are blessed to be a part of that heritage, it ignites us in many ways. What should we ultimately do with blessings? Send them forth, just like our priests send us forth after Mass, to love and to serve. We humbly serve our community this weekend and we hope that you get an opportunity to do the same, either by attending SMASH, purchasing an item from our auction, or entering the tuition raffle. Even if you don't have student in your own family—you can transfer the gift of a full year's tuition to any of our worthy students. And don't worry—Leland's is already covered.
